products on ebay require you buy on clearance or at super discounted

Just yesterday I was poking around eBay getting the Holiday Toy Guide ready with the latest info... and I came across this auction:

Check This Out! It retails for $299.99 - You can see Target has it for that price on their website. This auction still has almost 3 days left and is already MORE than RETAIL!
There are various reasons to explain this –
First of all, basic economics tell us that when the demand is higher than the supply - the price goes up. These could be difficult to find in certain parts of the country... and those people are willing to pay more to get their hands on something they can't find in their own area.
An item might only be available in certain areas of the world or country. The following example illustrates this point as well (I know - this isn't exactly a toy but the principle still applies).
Above
is a bed canopy from IKEA that I bought for the full retail price of $15.
It sold for over $50! Why?
It sold to a bidder who didn't have access to the IKEA stores.

Here is another example. I bought a Disney Incredibles Jack Jack Jogging Suit in early October last year. It looked just like a costume for an infant/toddler. I paid $10 each for them on amazon.com. I listed them immediately and they sold for over $40… even while they were still available on amazon.com for $10! If my customer had done their homework, they would have found the same costume on amazon.com and could have saved themselves $20-30!
Many are hooked on ebay and don’t shop around… They browse around on the auction site, come across something they want and will pay top dollar for it without even thinking to look for the same item elsewhere.

the holidays come a strange thing happens
to parents and grandparents…
They absolutely go crazy with what they are willing to pay to get their hands on THE TOY their little one desires. When the items become harder to find at the stores, they turn to eBay.

| "I knew to look for ELMO, Dora, and Spider-Man, video/virtual type games (that was obvious, this generation is so techy!) thanks to Jenni's newsletter... I found those Spider-Man things at Kohls! They were on sale for $40, regular $70 and I had a feeling they would do well, I got home listed one with a $70 BIN, it sold within an hour! I went back and bought 2 more which sold near a hundred each, so I went and got 5 more...lol....Also, the CPKs were buy 1 get 1 at 1/2 plus I had a 15% coupon, so they ended up costing $22.50/ea. The Dora stuff, I got lucky at Sears, b/c by then they were sold out. The trick is to go to places where people don't go for toys usually. Benny's, TJMaxx, Kohls, JCPenney etc...and buy what's selling out at Toys R Us. Walmart is great for cheap toys too. I deserve some good sales, I've been doing decent but didn't have what I consider a "Hot" auction after 7 months of selling cloth diapers and baby clothes, so I guess these are mine! …
I could go on and on. My sales have paid for Christmas and many
other things this past month!" |
